Dr. Khalid joined us in September 2020. He was born and raised in Karachi, Pakistan where he completed his medical school from the Aga Khan University. In 2008 he moved with his wife to the United States and completed his internal medicine residency from the University of Minnesota. This was followed by a year of Hepatology and three years of Gastroenterology training at Saint Louis University.
After completing fellowship training in 2015 he spent five years in academics with the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at East Carolina University/Vidant Medical Center as affiliated assistant professor. During his time with ECU, he built his career as a motility expert leading the motility lab and working closely with his gastroenterology colleagues as well as general, thoracic and bariatric surgeons. This led to his additional appointment as affiliated assistant professor in the Department of Cardiovascular Sciences as well as Medical Director of Gastrointestinal Motility. In addition to these responsibilities, Dr. Khalid took on the task of Medical Directorship of one of the multispecialty clinics under the same hospital system.
Dr. Khalid is a well-rounded gastroenterologist with proficiency in both upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. His particular interests are foregut disorders, including esophageal motility disorders, acid reflux, hiatal hernias, and Barrett’s esophagus. He continues his interest in hepatology, managing a wide range of liver disorders.
Dr. Khalid is a firm believer in quality of care and being an advocate for all his patients. He is quite particular about giving his patients the extra time they need in order to better understand their symptoms and cater to their needs in the best possible way.

This was me and my husband‘s first procedure, and we both were very nervous, but all of the staff were very very nice very pleasant and may the experience better to deal with. Everyone was very professional kept us calm, even when the doctor came in very very nice man. I would recommend anyone that’s going in for this type of procedure. I would recommend this facility. Recommend. I want to say thank you to the nurses and the doctors for being patient and understanding you guys were amazing thank you thank you!!!

Dr Khalid is a great doctor! I have had several problems recently and other doctors seem to kick the can down the road and not take it seriously {even though I couldn't swallow and I have a big bulge sticking out of my chest and going up into my neck) but Dr Khalid upon seeing it ordered a cat scan and took me seriously. I hope it's nothing but better safe than sorry and I really appreciate his attention to detail and his effort to make sure that patients who are in urgent need get in to see him.

A breath of fresh air! Dr. Khalid is a great listener and extremely knowledgeable. He took the time to understand my concerns and provided great feedback that didn’t focus solely on prescription medication.
Dr. Khalid was incredible. He was helpful, thorough, empathetic, and did an amazing job explaining everything to me. As a transgender man, I'm used to really having to advocate for myself with doctors, but with Dr. Khalid, he heard my concerns and was not dismissive.
